Homebrewer's - we have several pounds of Celeia hops from Slovenia available that we will not be using. Once in a while we receive samples from our hop supplier and thought it would be a great idea to share the surplus. These are fairly low Alpha hops, 2.8% AA, so they will be packaged in 4 oz. bags and priced at $2/bag, just to cover our handling costs.

It will be interesting to compare notes after having them used in a variety of different beers by the local homebrewers. As we all know, there are no limits when stirring the homebrew kettle. We'll have some samples of the beer we brew with them, as well.

Here's information on the hops we currently have:
    
    Usage: Aroma/Dual
    
    Description: Celeia is dual pupose hybride beetwen Savinjski Golding, Aurora 
    and Slovenian wild hops. 
    
    It has a noble and pleasant hoppy aroma similar to Saaz. Low cohumulone (25%) makes for 
    smooth bittering qualities.
    
    Typical Beer Styles: Light Lagers, Pilsners, Belgian Ales 
    
    Possible Substitutions: Saaz, Styrian Goldings 
    
    Typical Alpha Acid: 3 - 6%, our samples are 2.8% AA

Fresh Beer! The most appealing aspect of craft beer is being able to provide a glass of our favorite beverage at the peak of freshness.

The Great Crescent Brewery is working with a local farmer to cultivate hops that will become a portion of our annual hop supply. He planted the following varieties this year - Willamette, Goldings and Glacier.

The hop plants will take about 3 years to begin producing amounts large enough to supply breweries in the local area. There may be enough at the end of this first season to make a special batch of IPA with fresh hops - here's some pictures of the hops on the vine from the end of July 2009.
